At Joke Time we get a funky mix of open mic-ers and pro comedians coming through every week, and you’re invited to join the fun!
The show starts at 8.30, every Wednesday at the Comedy Café Berlin. It’s free entry, but we ask for donations. If you just wanna check out the show and have a laugh, you can stop reading here.
If you’re an aspiring Dave Chappelle or Sarah Silverman or insert_funny_person, read on:
With the growing number of comedians, in order to run a tight show, we need comics to show up on time. So be at the Comedy Café Berlin at 8pm to get a guaranteed spot. Write your name on a piece of paper and throw it in the bucket on stage. Depending on the number of signups, you’ll get 3 to 5 minutes of stage time.
Once the show starts, your host Toby Arsalan will draw names from the bucket. Watch the show, support your fellow comedians and you’ll hear your name called out a couple of spots ahead of your turn.
Please also read our Community Code of Conduct: https://www.comedycafeberlin.com/community-code-of-conduct/
We encourage newcomers and esp. female, LGBT & POC comics to come by, our show is very inclusive (unlike all the other comedy shows in Berlin, which are all very racist and sexist).
NOTE: You do not get a free drink for performing at this open mic.
Every 1st Sunday of the month, Cuter than Hedgehogs and Comedy Café Berlin bring you Berlin’s most exciting new improv teams.
See a mix of sets by freshly-formed groups getting up on stage for the first time, and established teams working on new formats.
If you’re interested in performing at The Hedge, you can sign up here.

Longform improv performed by CCB’s inaugural Harold House Teams.
The Harold is a 25 minute improv format developed by Del Close.
It is the pinnacle of improv.
About the Teams
CCB Harold House Teams are People System and Fünfdollar. They are Amanda King, Andrew Blumhagen, Antonia Bär, Carl Clancy, Caroline Clifford, Clementine Satsuma, Jakob Wagner, Janina Rook, Marisa Llamas, Matilde Keizer, Michele Guido, Nacho Sanguinetti, Peter Talbot, Gaston Stabiszewski, Emma Aldridge, Andrea Björk Andrésdóttir, Sara Nere and Trevor Silverstein. They are directed and coached by Josh Telson and Noah Telson.
GLB is CCB’s premier improv team and has performed to packed houses across Europe.
With a suggestion from the audience, GLB sets off on a night of first rate tomfoolery – hilarious scenes weaved together with incomparable timing. Pretty much anything can happen, and it’s all made up before your very eyes by some of the best improvisers this city’s got to offer.
They are Nicole Ratjen, Josh Telson and Noah Telson.
“Exciting, a definite recommendation.”
“With a passion for the art, the audience and pushing forward it’s hard to imagine these performers not making a big mark on the scene.”
–Lee White, CRUMBS
“These guys and gal are a must-see. The sheer speed of their combined brains and sharp humor is mind blowing. I may or may not have laughed ’til I peed.”
–Kristian Bruun, Actor, BBC’s Orphan Black
“[GLB] does wonderfully inventive, highly intelligent improv. Comprised of individually skilled members, their chemistry and experience together creates truly dynamic and unique theatre. Their audience base is enthusiastic and loyal; and GLB never disappoints, delivering whimsical stories, cracked characters, cultural commentary, and huge laughs to eager crowds in Berlin. Simply put, their shows are electric- not to be missed.”
–Tess Degenstein, Space Janitors, Rapid Fire Theatre, Bad Dog Repertory Theatre
“In a city that is quickly gaining a reputation for its English comedy [GLB] is leading the way. With intelligent, quick-witted storytelling and a quirky, surprising cast, GLB is a joy to watch each and every show. You can’t even call them Berlin’s best kept comedy anymore. The word is out. And the audiences are laughing.”
–Mat Mailandt, Notorious
“[GLB] are one of the hottest improv outfits on the scene. Their obvious chemistry is fantastic to see and no doubt the product of years of honing their group mind. This is something people should see. If your sides aren’t hurting at the end of a GLB show, you’re either impervious to laughter or are significantly fitter than I am, which, frankly, no one is. A bunch of bloody legends, these guys are the dope. Drink. It. In… or regret it soon and for the rest of your life. They’re just so damned tight!”
–Carlo Ritchie “The Bear Pack”, “Bonus Stage”, Director “Improv Theatre Sydney”
“History as we know it is based on Humankind being half-cut”
– Chris Davis
Chris combines his two talents – comedy and cocktails – to create a unique show complete with audience interaction, drunken anecdotes and free tasters.
Chris has been a cocktail barman for 10 years and has worked in many various bars in Berlin – including a high-end brothel (as a barman…). Chris makes great quality cocktails with only the best top shelf quality alcohol. This means – NO HANGOVERS! He has also been a Stand Up Comedian now for 6 years and has performed at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Glasgow International Comedy Festival, various venues in London, New York and…Belgium AND was even a finalist in the Scottish Comedian of the Year Award back in 2013.
For this show, The Wandering Barman, Chris will make cocktails live on stage, invite guests to the on-stage bar and teach you to make cocktails while reciting his own drunken antics of his 8 years in Berlin. He also wants to hear your stories of drunken behaviour, so come prepared with a wild story of your own.
After the show Chris will serve you beer, wine, long drinks and more cocktails behind the bar as we all continue the festivities of a Saturday night at Comedy Cafe Berlin.
Please note, tickets purchased at the door will incur an extra 2€ surcharge!
