the humour act (WIP)

Sunday, July 30, 2023 | 9:00pm 10:00pm

What is comedy? What role does it serve? How do jokes bind us together, and how can they keep us apart? These are some of the most important questions in the burgeoning research field of phenomenological humour theory.

Other comedians will tell you these questions bear no import. “They’re just jokes!” the fools cry, eyes full of need, desperately seeking audience validation for their horrendous personalities. Fortunately, Matthew Liam Healy is not like other comedians.

In this work-in-progress comedy performance the amateur humour theorist and no-time winner of the Berlin New Stand-Up Award will seek to answer these questions definitively. But in a way that’s still funny, don’t worry. It’s at Comedy Café Berlin – if it’s not funny they’ll make us all leave.
